1964 Corvan Camper54 viewsHere's what the '64 Corvan Camper looks like that I bought at the Pomona Swap Meet.

1964 Corvan Camper13 viewsHere's the engine in the '64 Corvan Camper. It would appear that it's a 110 passenger car engine.

1964 Corvan Camper59 viewsLooking through the side door here's what it looks like toward the back. I believe this is a home made kit.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion308 viewsThis is the interior of the Curbside Corvan as it looked when we brought it home from the swap meet. This is from the side cargo doors looking back. Notice all the stickers and surf images inside.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion262 viewshere is an image from the cargo doors looking forward onto the instrument panel as is looked when we got the van. The instrument panel appears to have been painted by hand and is a dirty brown color which is scratching off badly. The Mexican blankets have already gone to my dogs.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion305 viewshere is the center of the van with the side-facing seat and the table that mounts to the floor. I believe the louvered windows are original to the van, although obviously not factory original.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion278 viewsThe back of the van showing some of the dents that are in every corner of this vehicle. There's also a James Dean license plate, which has gone the way of the garbage man.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion308 viewsI bought this 1964 Corvair Corvan with what is purportedly outfitted with an original dealer-installed camper kit. The kit sort of looks like what you'd expect from a mid-1960s VW camper van and is pretty nifty. There are louvered side windows which are a mess on the doors but work perfectly on the driver's side.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion261 viewsHere's the interior looking in from the rear doors. There's a bed over the engine compartment which also serves to quiet the interior down when the engine's on. It doesn't work that well.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion295 viewsThe engine appears to be a 110 engine from a Corvair passenger car, rather than an original truck engine. The giveaway is the oil filler location.

1964 Corvan Camper Conversion242 viewsI'm not sure if this was original, but there's a trap door that allows you to check the oil and add oil, too. Since it's a Corvair engine it leaks like a sieve so adding and checking oil before each journey is important.
